Tragic News Strikes Ex-Boston Bruin Trent Frederic Following His Debut With The Edmonton Oilers

The Boston Bruins ended up trading Trent Frederic in a three-team trade with the New Jersey Devils, and the Edmonton Oilers, but he has already been hit with some unfortunate news.

Frederic and the Edmonton Oilers had to wait 14 games following the NHL trade deadline for him to make his debut with the organization, and just seven minutes into the game Frederic was once again injured.

Today at practice, it was reported that he was not available, and it was already confirmed that he will not be playing Monday night against the Anaheim Ducks.

Sportsnet's Mark Spector reported that it actually only took six seconds into his debut with the Oilers for his high ankle sprain injury to act up. Frederic decided to throw a big hit during his first shift of the game, and would immediately exit the game, and did not return until over 12 minutes remaining in the first period.

The newly acquired forward would play more shifts throughout the first and second period, but would end up leaving the game early in the third period, and finished the game with 7:10 of ice time.

Edmonton Oilers GM spoke out on the injury following the game and stated this:

This is super unfortunate for both the Oilers, and Frederic, but if he can return before the playoffs, or just in time for the playoffs, that would be ideal for both of them, especially considering he was their big trade acquisition during the trade deadline.
