The NHL Draft lottery is an event that gets called rigged or fixed year after year, with fans of teams all over claiming that the league favors =certain teams in the lottery, such as big markets or markets the NHL wishes to grow. This time around, it seems like it's more than just the fans who feel this way, as it looks like the players share this sentiment.
Team Staff and NHL Players Too?
Yup, NHL players have reportedly had enough of Gary Bettman's draft lottery.
It was reported earlier on the 32 Thoughts podcast by trusted NHL insider Elliotte Friedman that players and team personnel alike aren't trusting the results of this year's draft lottery, which saw the Chicago Blackhawks land the coveted first overall slot.
According to Friedman, members of the league who he believes to be highly intelligent people are certain that this year's lottery was rigged for Chicago, and the growing concern surrounding this year's results are alarming.
"These were people across the league in executive jobs to even some players on teams coming forth with their apprehensions."
It certainly is unusual that players are also voicing this concern, especially considering how little players tend to speak up against the league.
