Many believed in the coming weeks we'd learn that Torey Krug would be shipped out of town, however it's Adam McQuaid who found himself the odd man out.
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Bruins have shipped McQuaid off to their new favourite trade partner, the New YorkRangers, in return of a 4th round pick and Steven Kampfer.
The 29 year old Kampfer is a depth forward who played 22 games for the Rangers last year registering one assist and 20 penalty minutes.
With Zdeno Chara aging, McQuaid had become the enforcer of sorts on the blue line willing to throw down with anybody who tried to push the Bruins around.
With only one year left on his contract, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney must have figured he wasn't going to re-sign McQuaid and decided to get something for him now as the 31 year old is coming off an injury riddled season.
More details to come.
