A recent draft pick of the Bruins, Dans Locmelis, is officially moving to North America to continue his hockey career, and it just happens to be close the Boston.
Locmelis, 18, was selected in the fourth round (119th overall) by the Bruins at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The Latvian has spent the past four seasons in Sweden with Lulea HF Jr. of the Swe-Jr league and recorded 8 goals and 12 assists this year.
However, the forward prospect is also signed with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL:
Locmelis has played some SHL games, which has caused problems for other Swedish players coming to the NCAA this season, so the University of Massachusetts will have to work that compliance out for next season.
