The Boston Bruins were off today before taking on the Blues in St. Louis on Wednesday night.
While the team did not take to the ice, general manager Don Sweeney made a trio of moves this afternoon.
The team announced that defenseman Paul Postma and forward Jordan Szwarz have been recalled from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis. In a corresponding move, forward Anton Blidh was reassigned back to Providence.
Adam McQuaid took his last shift with about two minutes remaining in the second period of last night's overtime loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets and never came out for the third period. Head coach Bruce Cassidy never revealed what caused McQuaid to exit the game, but Postma is back up with the Bruins if he is unable to play tomorrow night.
The Bruins current injury list is ridiculous with McQuaid added to David Backes, Patrice Bergeron, Anders Bjork, Zdeno Chara, Jake DeBrusk, Charlie McAvoy and Rick Nash.
