The 24-year-old will report to the Providence Bruins in the coming days.
It was announced yesterday that the Providence squad signed defenseman Grant Gabriele to a one-year AHL contract for the 2022-23 season. However, the Brighton, Michigan native will join the P-Bruins on an amateur tryout agreement for the remainder of the current regular season.
Gabriele picked up 50 points (13G-37A) in his 124 career games with Ohio State and served as the Buckeyes alternate captain last season. He was voted the team's co-most improved player back in 2018-19.
Gabriele received this year's NCAA (B1G) Sportsmanship Award.
The 6'2'', 196-pound, right-handed defenseman played two years with USA Hockey's NTDP before spending time in the United States Hockey League with the Omaha Lancers, Chicago Steel, Muskegon Lumberjacks, and Waterloo Black Hawks. In 143 career USHL games, Gabriele scored 16 goals and added 42 assists for 58 points.
Gabriele represented the U.S. on the international stage when he suited up in the 2014-15 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. He led Team U.S.A. to a bronze medal after finishing the tournament as the Americans top-scoring blueliner with six points (1G-5A) in five games played.
