The Boston Bruins start life without David Pastrnak tonight as they host the Chicago Blackhawks at TD Garden.

Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced today that Pastrnak will miss time after having surgery on his thumb.

At practice Danton Heinen skated alongside Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand while Jake DeBrusk skated with David Krejci and PeterCehlarik.

It'll be hard to fill Pastrnak's shoes as the forward has 31 goals and 35 assists in 56 games so far this season.

"So someone else will have to step in We don't expect any one player to deliver what [Pastrnak] has to this point or could going forward, but we'll look at different people in there that have had some level of success, see if they can fill some of the void."

Bruins life without Pastrnak won't start off easy as the Bruins host the Blackhawks who have won seven games in a row.

Tuukka Rask gets the start for the Bruins while rookie Collin Delia gets the start for the Hawks.
