The NHL Player Safety Department has announced a one-game suspension for the incident.
It all went down in the opening period of the Arizona Coyotes game against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.
Former Bruins forward Nick Ritchie took his stick blade and slapped Ducks defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk straight to the face with it.
It was announced earlier today that Ritchie would be suspended one game for his cowardly act.
While the move was definitely suspendable, the NHL's decision comes as somewhat of a surprise.
Many Ducks players and staff members have expressed their frustration following their game against the Coyotes, but most complaints made were because of Jay Beagle's vicious attack on all-star
Troy Terry.
