Former Boston Bruins forward forced to sign AHL contract to keep career alive

Several veteran players have been forced to either sign a professional tryouts, leave for another pro league or even sign contracts with NHL affiliates to keep their careers alive.
The latest is former Boston Bruins forward
Riley Nash, who signed with the AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers:
As per the Charlotte Checkers PR:
'' The Panthers have signed Riley Nash to a two-year AHL contract.''
The contract is officially signed through the Panthers, but it's ultimately an AHL level deal.
Nash was drafted 21st overall by the Edmonton Oilers at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, and has appeared in 627 games with the Carolina Hurricanes, Boston Bruins, Columbus Blue Jackets, Winnipeg Jets, Tampa Bay Lightning and the Arizona Coyotes.
The career fourth liner/depth player has amassed 63 goals and 113 assists in his career. In 157 games with the Bruins, the veteran recorded 22 goals and 36 assists over two seasons.
