The Anaheim Ducks' newest defenseman John Klingberg fired his agent last week, and it's now clear why.
His former agent advised Klingberg to turn down a hefty offer from the Dallas Stars last season around Christmas. It's reported that the Stars offered the defenseman an eight-year, $58 million contract, with AAV of $7.25 million.
Instead his agent advised him to hold out for an eight-year offer with at least $8 million per season, which unfortunately, never came.
Flash forward to two weeks into free agency, and Klingberg ended up signing a one-year, $7,000,000 with the Ducks.
It's no wonder Klingberg fired his agent after he cost him a guaranteed $51,000,000 in salary.
