With the NHL trying to bring parity to the league with a salary cap and the draft lottery, teams have to draft well.
Most current good teams, drafted well, while others haven't been so lucky, so they're forced to find talent via free agency or trades.
The growing sense is that it's a young man's league, as the older players are a �'dying breed''
NHL.com revealed the teams average age heading into the 2022-23 season here are the top 10
1. Buffalo Sabres: Average Age: 25.9 Years Old.
2. (Tied for first) Columbus Blue Jackets: Average Age: 25.9 Years Old.
3. Detroit Red Wings: Average Age: 26.1 Years Old.
4. (Tied for third) New Jersey Devils: Average Age: 26.1 Years Old.
5. Anaheim Ducks: Average Age: 26.3 Years Old.
6. (Tied for fifth) Ottawa Senators: Average Age: 26.3 years old.
7. New York Rangers: Average Age: 26.4 Years Old.
8. Arizona Coyotes: Average Age: 26.5 Years Old.
9. (Tied for 8th) Vancouver Canucks: Average Age: 26.5 Years Old.
10. Dallas Stars: Average Age: 27.6 years old
