Blockbuster trade announced involving the Buffalo Sabres: The Boston Bruins now have their answer
Unexpectedly throughout the night, the Buffalo Sabres and Utah Mammoth combined for a blockbuster trade at 1:35 a.m.
According to multiple reports, the Buffalo Sabres traded their former 34th overall pick, and young star JJ Peterka.
The Boston Bruins were rumored to be interested in the Sabres young forward, but more then likely did not want to trade the assets for him.
Official trade
In the trade, the Buffalo Sabres ended up acquiring Michael Kesselring and Josh Doan.
And the Uath Mammoth ended up acquiring JJ Peterka:

Josh Doan
Josh Doan
To Utah
JJ Peterka
Along with the trade, it was also revealed that Peterka has signed a five-year deal with Utah with an AAV of $9.625 million.
Last season Peterka had a career year where he scored 27 goals, and had 68 points.
Former Arizona Coyotes legend Shane Doan's son, Josh had 7 goals and 19 points last year with Utah.
Michael Kesselring set new career highs in his third season with Utah scoring 7 goals and 29 points.
Did the Bruins miss out?
Peterka has shown some upside to his game, as he has progressed every year since he's been in the league, but he would have been a gamble for Sweeney.
Especially given the contract that he signed with Utah, Sweeney can use that $9 million and upgrade multiple spots needed in the off-season.
