GM Don Sweeney and the Boston Bruins could be targeting a legitimate locker room cancer.

They are reported interesting in acquiring the services of the Ottawa Senators Jakob Chychrun.

Apparently Chychrun isn't enthusiastic about signing an extension in Ottawa, as he is entering the final season of his contract.

This could lead to a trade for the Boston Bruins who are interested in the defenseman.

GM Don Sweeney and the Bruins have been connected to Chychrun for quite sometime. Now could be a great time to add him, while they have plenty of cap space.

Doing this would also make letting left-handed defenseman Matt Grzelcyk and Derek Forbort walk during the offseason.

Chychrun played 82 games with the Ottawa Senators during the 2023-2024 NHL season.

He posted 41 points( 14 G, 27 A) with a plus/minus of -30.

Per CapFriendly, Chychrun's cap hit for the 2023-2024 season, was $4.6 Million AAV, with a M-NTC and a signing bonus of $1 Million, signed in 2019-2020, with the Coyotes GM John Chayka tendering the offer.
