Official: A trade was just announced involving the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks
We all knew that the off-season was going to be a busy one, and Don Sweeney has started making trades early as he just completed one with the Chicago Blackhawks.
After having a disappointing 2024-25 season, it was clear that changes were going to take place in the off-season, and Don Sweeney has already began doing so.
The
trade between the and Chicago Blackhawks is definitely not a blockbuster, and probably won't make a big change for the Bruins, but it's something.
Bruins and Blackhawks combine for a trade
According to Blackhawks insider Scott Powers, the Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins made a minor league deal.
Powers reported that the Boston Bruins have traded a seventh-round pick and defensive prospect
Ryan Mast to the Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman
Victor Soderstrom.
The Blackhawks have traded the rights to defenseman Victor Söderström to the Bruins for a seventh-round pick and defenseman prospect
Ryan Mast.
Soderstrom has not played many games in the NHL only appearing in 53 career NHL games, but he was a high draft pick.
During the 2024-25 NHL Trade deadline, his rights were traded to the Chicago Blackhawks along with
Shea Weber's contract and
Aku Raty.
In his 53 games in the NHL,
Soderstrom has one goal and 11 total points.
He is still young being only 24-years-old, and last season he played with the Brynas IF Gavle of the Swedish Hockey League where he scored nine goals and 37 points in 49 games.
