Former Bruins' NHL career in jeopardy at 26 years old
Terrible news Friday night as a former Boston Bruins career is possibly over at the age of 26. Now with the Carolina Hurricanes, forward Ondrej Kase left the club's current road trip for the worst possible reason.
As per Hurricanes reporter Walt Ruff:
''#Canes forward Ondrej Kase is returning to Raleigh to be evaluated for a possible concussion.''
Kase was traded from the Anaheim Ducks to the Bruins during the 2019-20 season and spent two years with the club. However, due to concussion-related injuries, he only appeared in nine regular-season games with Boston. As a member of the B's, Kase missed upwards of four months after suffering a concussion in the second game of the 2020-21 regular season.
Daily Faceoff recently shared his concussion history:
''Doing the math on this July 2021 story and factoring in Kase's concussion in 2021-22, he has six documented concussions, not including the injury for which he's currently being evaluated. Depending on whether we weigh the designated ''upper-body injury'' absences the same as the officially diagnosed concussions, it's possible Kase's career concussion total is in the double digits.''
Absolutely horrible news for a youngster with a long history of head trauma. If it's bad enough, there's potential for a career-ending injury.
