It was announced that former Boston Bruins defenseman, Jakub Zboril has signed a new contract with the HC Vitkovice of the Czech Extraliga.
The team ended up announcing the signing, and also revealed that it will be a one-year deal.
Zboril was drafted by the Boston Bruins during the horrendous 2015 NHL draft, where the Boston Bruins had three consecutive picks.
After being drafted by the Boston Bruins, he played two more full seasons of junior hockey in the QMJHL with Saint John.
After that he ended up making his professional debut with the Providence Bruins in 2017, and his NHL debut came a year later.
He appeared in two games with the Boston Bruins, where he was held pointless before returning back to the American Hockey League.
COVID ended up striking, and he was loaded back to his home country during the 2020-21 season, but this benefited him as his stint there was good enough for him to earn a full roster spot with the Bruins whenever the NHL season resumed.
During the 2021 season, Zboril played in 42 out of 56 games. This would be the most he ever played during a single season.
He was seen as a top two-way prospect ever since being drafted, but he never ended up developing into that.
Zboril finally scored his first goal in the NHL during the 2022-23 season, and it still holds as his only goal in the NHL.
Over his career, he has only appeared in 76 NHL games over four seasons with the Boston Bruins, and only has 1 career goal, as well as 15 assists for 16 career points.
