A contract involving Connor McDavid is in the works: New details have emerged

New details have emerged regarding a contract in the works for the Edmonton Oilers' top-forward, Connor McDavid, and it's surprising.
Following the Boston Bruins trading their former veteran captain, Brad Marchand, in March at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline, the organization is now officially entering a new era.
With all of the Boston Bruins stars from the 2010s and early 2020s being gone, the team is evidently looking to add stars to their roster.
With that being said, there has been whispers of the Bruins seeking to acquire one as soon as 2026 free agency, as superstar, Connor McDavid, has been speculated to be departing from Edmonton when his contract expires.
McDavid's current eight-year, current eight-year, $100 million deal with a cap hit of $12.5 million per season will be expiring at the end of next year's campaign, in 2026, where this impeccable star is expected to become an unrestricted free agent (UFA).
Or so we thought.
New details have emerged regarding McDavids future, and it doesn't look good for the Bruins.
As an NHL insider has revealed that Connor McDavid is suggested to be re-signing with the Edmonton Oilers.

A recent social media post, via «X», has revealed what NHL insider, Frank Seravalli, believes Connor McDavid's next deal will look like in Edmonton.

Although a contract extension is the last thing the Bruins organization wants when it comes to McDavid, the idea that his next contract will be short is great news for Boston.
At this time, the Boston Bruins are limited on cap space, meaning, if Connor McDavid signs a small contract in Edmonton, the Bruins will have a better shot at him when he hits the open market.
