A big turn of events has surfaced in the Boston Bruins hiring Marco Sturm as their next head coach. According to Elliotte Friedman, it's not a done deal yet.
Thursday night, news broke that the Boston Bruins were hiring Marco Sturm as the next head coach of the organization, but it seems like the gun was jumped a little too early.
After firing head coach Jim Montgomery early on into the season, the Boston Bruins have spent the off-season looking for a new head coach.
Multiple teams that did not make the Stanley Cup Playoffs already ended up finding their replacements behind the bench, but the Boston Bruins have taken their time.
Teams like the New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks, and Philadelphia Flyers all replaced their head coaches, and it seemed like the Boston Bruins finally found theirs, but a report from Elliotte Friedman says otherwise.
Bruins Have Not Hired Sturm
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman released a new episode of his 32 Thoughts podcast this morning and stated that the Boston Bruins have not officially hired Sturm as their head coach.
He said that Sturm is going to have another visit with the Bruins, where he may be offered the job, but it is not a done deal:
Elliotte says Marco Sturm still has another visit with the Bruins. Possible he'll be offered the job there, but might not be a done deal just yet.
Elliotte Friedman reports he's under the impression Marco Sturm is set to visit the Bruins - unsure for another interview or to be given the head coaching job but he's «very much in it.»
All signs are pointing to Sturm being the next head coach of the Boston Bruins, but until an announcement is official, it's all speculation.
