Brad Marchand is expected to hit the free agent market on July 1st, and a major turn of events has surfaced in him possibly returning to the Boston Bruins organization.

When Brad Marchand first met with the media after arriving in Florida, he left the door open for a potential return to the Boston Bruins organization, but it looks like that might not happen after all.
During the last minutes of the NHL trade deadline, Brad Marchand's 16-year tenure with the Boston Bruins came to an end as Don Sweeney traded him to the Florida Panthers.
Sweeney also ended up retaining 50% of Marchand's salary, which isn't terrible considering he is on his final year of his eight-year, $49 million deal.
Marchand has not shot down the idea of potentially returning to the Bruins organization:
«I don't know what the future brings,» Marchand said about his upcoming free agency. «Can things change down the road? Potentially, but that's to be seen. I would still love-like, (the trade) doesn't change my love for the city, and the will to want to be here has never changed.»
But now Don Cherry spoke on the matter and it seems like it's unlikely to happen.

Major Turn Of Events In Brad Marchand Returning To Boston

In his latest episode of "The Don Cherry's Grapevine Podcast", Don Cherry ended up knocking the idea that Marchand is going to return to Boston.
«There's no way,» Cherry said. «But it sounds good, doesn't it?»

He also stated that with Florida's tax benefits, it's hard to imagine Marchand leaving and going back to Boston, due to the fact of "No tax. Make some extra money."
Since joining the Florida Panthers, Marchand has only picked up one goal, along with two assists while appearing in nine games. They are set to face the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first-round and Bruins fans are routing for the Florida Panthers and Marchand so they can get their conditional first-round pick that they acquired in the trade for Marchand.
"I'm just enjoying this whole journey," Marchand said. "It's such a unique experience for myself and I've been part of really good teams that have accomplished big things and some that haven't.

"Regardless, what you realize is that these opportunities are very few and far between, and you've got to enjoy every day in this league. And I'm having a lot of fun right now."
