The Boston Bruins and Brad Marchand couldn't come to terms on a new contract, which led to his trade to the Florida Panthers. Would a return be possible for the Captain?
According to the former Bruins Captain, a return to the Boston Bruins organization wouldn't be something he'd shut the door on.
Considering he spent the majority of his career with the Bruins and won a Stanley Cup here it'd be wrong for him to push them aside should they offer him a contract again once July rolls around.
During an interview with Steve Conroy of The Daily Herald, he went further into the topic and gave us an idea of where his head is on the matter.
«I mean, I don't know - I guess, is how I would respond,» Marchand said when asked about permanently closing this chapter of his career in Boston. «I don't know what the future brings in terms of how it plays out in the summertime.
I know it didn't come together. Now can things change down the road? Potentially, but that's to be seen. So I am sure we'll have a conversation down the road, but I don't know where that goes.

For now, if fans want to see Marchand continue his hunt for another Stanley Cup, they'll have to tune into their hated rivals, the Florida Panthers.
An idea that is unbecoming to Bruins fans, understandably so.
Who would love them though? Trade deadline brings the best and worst out of us sometimes, and we'll have to work through those narrow contradictions if we're going to see Marchand on the ice when he's fully recovered and in the playoffs.
There's been no definitive answer as to whether he'll wear the black and gold again, but it's best left up to chance now.
If the team and Marchand couldn't come to terms before, who is to say Don Sweeney will relent in July?
