The Bruins could miss the playoffs and could end up trading Captain
Brad Marchand. The trade could be made difficult by Marchand's eight-team no-trade clause, and a $6.1 million cap hit.
Marchand could be a rental for a Stanley Cup-contending team, other than the Bruins who are still fighting for a spot in the playoffs.
GM Chris McFarland could step in and relieve the Bruins of Marchand's $6.1 million salary cap hit.
What would it cost for the Avalanche to acquire the Bruins Captain, Brad Marchand?
The Bruins could retool the lineup, and get younger when they move Marchand to the Avalanche and receive Casey Mittelstadt, the Avs top prospect Calum Ritchie, and a 2025 second-round pick.
It sounds like it could be an expensive addition to the Avalanche, it is. GM Chris McFarland should focus on re-signing Marchand in the summer.
If he fails, that could open up a window for bringing Marchand back in the fold, as he'll be in a UFA in the summer.
Marchand has played 56 games for the Bruins this season and scored 43 points (19 G, 24 A)
While the Avalanche are one team that could be in on the Captain, the Edmonton Oilers have also been named as suitors as well.
The trade deadline should prove to be interesting for the Bruins, and Marchand.
