The NHL Entry Level draft is being held tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Los Angeles, and it was just reported that a top player may want to come to the Boston Bruins.
Since the Boston Bruins found out that they are going to have the
7th overall draft pick, Don Sweeney has made it know that they are willing to move on from it.
Reason one would be to acquire a NHL ready player that is going to make an immediate impact on the Bruins roster.
The other reason would be to move up in the NHL draft, and with a recent report, the second option seems most likely.
Bruins to trade up at the NHL draft?
Today, it was just revealed that the Boston Bruins had a meeting with top prospect Porter Martone right before he left to go to LA.
Boston was not the only team as it was reported the Flyers did as well, and the Flyers hold a higher pick then the Bruins.
Porter Martone tells us that he had a couple of last minute meetings with Philly and Boston before landing in LA
Martone is not expected to drop below the top 5, let alone down to 7th so there is a good chance that we see Don Sweeney trade up in the draft tomorrow.
Mostly all mock drafts that have been made so far see Martone being picked in the top 5, and for good reason.
Martone spent the 2024-25 season with the in the OHL with the Brampton Steelheads where he had 37 goals, 61 assists for 98 points in just 57 games.
Acquiring a player like this would instantly improve the Boston Bruins prospect pool, and there is a good chance Don Sweeney tries to make this happen.
