A fallout in free agency negotiations: Don Sweeney may have just gotten himself fired

Boston Bruins' general manager, Don Sweeney, has undoubtedly made some questionable moves since his hiring in the 2015 NHL season, yet his recent moves have lead to the Bruins fan-base being completely outraged by him.

Back in March of the 2024/25 NHL season, Sweeney unexpectedly departed with a fan-favourite, 16-year veteran, Brad Marchand, in a questionable trade with a conditional deal.

And now, new insight has unfolded, revealing that Sweeney may infuriate fans once again.

As another fan-favourited Bruin may be on his way out of Boston, due to Sweeney's incapability of making a deal to re-sign forward, Morgan Geekie.

A post was just made on social media via 'X' regarding the state of negotiations between Sweeney and Geekie.

This does not seem too promising for the Boston Bruins to keep their impactful forward for the 2025/26 NHL season, and it seems as though fans are already becoming frustrated.

Geekie is not a player to let go, as he has proven his skill and strength within his time in Boston. During the 2024/25 NHL season, he accumulated 33 goals, 24 assists, totalling at 57 points within 77 games.

Although it is uncertain whether or not Sweeney will be able to keep Morgan Geekie, fans are extremely hopeful.
