There was a lot of chatter that the Boston Bruins were going to have a very busy off-season, and so far they have.
Don Sweeney ended up signing a total of 10 players during free agency, but all of them were bottom-six/depth players.
They also traded for Edmonton Oilers Viktor Arvidsson, who could potentially play in the top-six for the Bruins.
After the opening days of free agency was over, Elliotte Friedman revealed why the Boston Bruins made a lot of bottom six signings this year, stating that they gave them a chance to make a big swing next year whenever bigger names hit the open market.
Don Sweeney also agreed to a contract with Michael DiPietro despite rumors indicating that he was going to hit the open market.
Who will be the starting goaltenders for the Boston Bruins?
Due to Don Sweeney signing DiPietro to a one-way deal, means he will not be playing in the AHL, and it creates a problem for the Boston Bruins.
Mark Allred believes that Jeremy Swayman's backup goaltender is going to be Joonas Korpisalo entering the year, but with the DiPietro signing, it's hard to believe.
