A blockbuster trade rumour is rippling through the NHL, igniting the debate among fans and insiders alike: could David Pastrnak be on his way to the Carolina Hurricane?

Let's dissect.
The Boston Bruins completed the regular season in last place of the Atlantic Division, ultimately leaving the franchise to face a crucial decision between whether or not they are rebuilding or retooling for the 2025/26 NHL season.
The 29-year old, David Pastrnak, undoubtedly remains one of the league's most lethal scorers, and is coming off another elite campaign, scoring 43 goals, tallying a 106-point season in the 2024/25 regular season, and is signed for three more seasons with the Bruins at a $11.25 million cap hit.
This key-forward offers immense talent that most teams would not move. Yet, if Boston commits to a full-scale rebuild, now might be the time to cash in for Pastrnak, as he could bring back a franchise-altering haul.
A reporter from NHLtraderumors.me, Zoro Sekhon, revealed a Mock Trade Proposal, take a look:
Mock Trade Proposal: Pastrnak to Carolina

Hurricanes receive:

David Pastrnak
2025 4th-round pick (via PHI)

Bruins receive:

Logan Stankoven
Andrei Svechnikov
Alexander Nikishin
2026 1st-round pick

«This deal would be a franchise-shaking move. Carolina gives up two dynamic forwards - Svechnikov and Stankoven - and a premier defensive prospect - Nikishin, but lands a generational scorer in Pastrnak.

For Boston, it's a long-term play-sacrificing their superstar for a package that could accelerate a rebuild.»
Sekhon wrote.
Although this is a mock trade proposal, the reporter, Sekhon, makes incredible points regarding why this would be beneficial on both sides of the organizations.
However, Boston fans would be undoubtedly heart-broken if the fan-favourited veteran departed from the organization, and at the moment fans and reporters are still uncertain as to what the Bruins franchise is planning for the offseason.
Buckle up Bruins fans as this offseason is going to be busy in Boston.
