Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning combine for a trade on this day

Although the Boston Bruins have had a busy offseason thus far into the summer, as they've had to depart, re-sign and acquire several players in hopes to become bigger contenders for their upcoming 2025/26 NHL season.

Last campaign, the Boston Bruins underwent an extremely underwhelming season and immense heartbreak.

As the organization departed with some of the fan-bases favourite players, and ultimately completed their season in the NHL basement.

That being said, the Boston Bruins have gone through decades of challenges and trades throughout the years, and 30 years ago was no different.

On this day in hockey history, three decades ago, a trade erupted between the Bruins and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

A previous trade that erupted between these two franchises was posted earlier today, Sunday, August 17, on social media, via «X».

This trade saw the Boston Bruins trade their former player, David Shaw, to the Tampa Bay Lightning and in return, they received a 3rd round pick, who ended up being Jason Doyle, during the 1996 offseason.
