Boston Bruins fans are cheering for Brad Marchand and the Florida Panthers for an unexpected reason

Boston Bruins fans would not normally root for the Florida Panthers, especially after the Panthers have eliminated the Bruins from the playoffs the past couple of years, but there is a good reason for it.

Back during the NHL Trade Deadline, General Manager Don Sweeney traded Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers which shocked fans.

In return, the Boston Bruins got a conditional second-round draft pick in the 2027 NHL draft.

There is a chance that this second-round pick could turn into a first-round pick in either 2027, or 2028 if the Panthers end up winning two or more rounds in this years playoffs, and Marchand has to at least play in 50% of the games.

The Bruins do not have the best future, as they don't have a lot of top prospects or draft picks, so getting this second-round pick to turn into a first-rounder would be huge for the Bruins.

Even though Bruins fans may not want too, they should be rooting for the Panthers and Marchand to at least get to the Eastern Conference Final.

The Panthers are favourites this year, but have a really tough matchup in the first round when they are going to have to faceoff against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

last year in the first round, the Panthers took out the Lightning in five games, but the Lightning have improved a lot since then and are going to be a much tougher opponent.

Every round is going to be a battle, but hopefully the Panthers can win two rounds, and the Bruins can turn the conditional second round, into a first round pick.
