The Boston Bruins organization receive great news regarding the waiver wire moments before their 2025/26 NHL season opener.

Moments prior to the Boston Bruins' opening night game, which is set to take place on October 8, against the Washington Capitals, the franchise got the best-case scenario news regarding their most recent transactions.

All four Boston Bruins players who were placed on waivers cleared

During the Bruins' preseason rally, Boston underwent an extremely shocking move by placing some of their key players on the waiver wire.
Alex Steeves, Michael DiPietro, Matej Blumel, and Jonathan Aspirot were all placed on waivers for the purpose of re-assignment to the Boston Bruins' AHL affiliate team, the Providence Bruins.
Take a look:
Jonathan Aspirot, Matej Blumel, Michael DiPietro and Alex Steeves have been placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to Providence.

Matt Poitras will report to Providence Bruins Training Camp.
While all of these Bruins players were a shock to hit the waiver wire, the most surprising one was arguably the send down of Michael DiPietro.
The Bruins signed DiPietro to a two-year, $1.625 million deal in attempt to compete with Joonas Korpisalo as this Original Six franchise's backup goalie.
Evidently, Korpisalo won the slot, which later concluded in the Boston Bruins placing DiPietro on waivers.

NHL insider reported teams were interested in Michael DiPietro as a potential waiver claim

Prior to the Boston Bruins placing DiPietro on waivers, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman had reported that teams were speculated to show interest in potentially claiming this talent off waivers.
«More goalies of note on waivers today: DiPietro (BOS), Daws (NJ), Stevenson (WASH) they have all had interest,» Friedman wrote on social media, via «X», on Sunday.

Despite this noted interest, DiPietro shockingly cleared waivers and was assigned to the AHL, where he will also join the rest of the Boston Bruins players who were placed on waivers.
The Boston Bruins organization couldn't have gotten luckier with the outcome of the waiver wire.
As all four of these players are expected to be key depth pieces within the Bruins and could make an appearance on Boston's roster should any injuries erupt.
