Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney Facing Harsh Backlash For Team Canada's Roster Construction

Don Sweeney was appointed the General Manager position of Team Canada when the Four Nations tournament was announced.

Team Canada has a very talented list of players they could have chosen from but Don Sweeney made some very controversial decisions regarding who he picked and faced some backlash for it.

Team USA ended up taking the first game against Team Canada, beating them 3-1 after scoring an empty net goal to seal the deal. Following the game, Canadian fans were outraged with some of the choices Don Sweeney made involving the roster.

The main one being their goaltender. Although Jordan Binnington shined when it mattered most for Team Canada and played stellar in the finals, he struggled giving up a lot of weak goals during the Round Robin games.

Because of this, a lot of Canadian fans were upset that Team Canada decided to bring Jordan Binnington, Samuel Montembeault, and Adin Hill over the likes of Logan Thompson, Mackenzie Blackwood, and Darcey Kuemper.

He also decided to bring some interesting players like Seth Jarvis, Anthony Cirelli and Thomas Harley who was a call up because Team Canada ended up losing Shea Theodore for the remainder of the tournament after just the first game.

While he did bring those players he ended up leaving some very very talented players off of the team including Weegar, Scheifele, Tavares, Wilson, Bedard, and the list goes on.

At the end of the day, Team Canada came out on top, but it will be interesting to see if Don Sweeney is the GM for Canada when they go to the Olympics, and if he listens to fans and brings better suited players.
