David Pastrnak has been the only real highlight of the season for the Boston Bruins this year, but he is being robbed by the NHL for an unexpected reason.
Pastrnak had a very slow start to the season, and at one point wasn't even on pace to be over a point per game player this year.
That all changed when the calendar year flipped to 2025, as David Pastrnak went on an absolute tear.
Pastrnak ended up going on a 17 game point streak, lighting up the NHL, where he scored 15 goals, along with 18 assists for 33 points.
He ended up finishing the year with 106 points, which was good enough for top 3 in the NHL, and now the NHL is robbing him of a special honor because of an unexpected reason.

This season, the Boston Bruins as a team scored 222 goals, and David Pastrnak recorded 106 points. That means he factored in on 47.7% of the Bruins goals this year.
A pretty insane fact is that no other player in the league ended up factoring in on over 42% of their teams goals.

With this being said, it's clear that Pastrnak should be a candidate to win the MVP this year, but he isn't because of one unexpected reason.
The NHL will not consider David Pastrnak for the MVP award this year only because his team did not make the playoffs.
Unfortunately, he won't pick up many votes, but this was another MVP-caliber season for David Pastrnak.
This is highway robbery. Pastrnak carried the Bruins and should definitely be in the conversation.
