Behind the scenes altercation during Bruins latest game involving refs could result in suspensions next season
A recent report by NHL analyst Mark Divver may lead to a series of suspensions handed out involving the Boston Bruins organization following a rare altercation that occurred behind the scenes.
Now that the
Boston Bruins' lackluster of a season has come to an end, all eyes are on the organization's developmental processes moving forward.
The youth of the franchise and the group expected to lead the 're-tooling' process by Don Sweeney are sitting pretty in the American Hockey League with an impressive 39-22-7 record on the season.
As the AHL only has two games left in their odd 72-game season, a major handful of suspensions expected to be dished out could change things for one specific NHL organization.
According to
Mark Divver of NHL.com, a heated altercation took place behind closed doors just outside of the dressing room after the Providence Bruins' 4-3 win against the Belleville Senators.
Boston's AHL Providence had a whopping nine power-plays during the game, and would ultimately win the game in overtime off of another power-play goal.
The reporter revealed that the Belleville Senators players confronted the on-ice officials while they walked past their dressing room.
Tensions arose, and arena security was forcefully called as it unfolded into an aggressive scene.
The referees who were in the middle of it all were Stephen Hiff and Jordan Deckard, who are likely to pursue discipline from the American Hockey League board.
In the NHL, a $50,000 fine has been commonly witnessed throughout the past few seasons due to 'abuse of an official' by teams' head coaches.
But for a group of players getting in the face of officials off-ice, we can only expected a lengthy set of suspensions to be dished out.
