Similar to the Boston Bruins, the Pittsburgh Penguins are trying to move up in this years NHL draft.
Unlike the Boston Bruins,
the Pittsburgh Penguins are not willing to trade their 11th overall pick for a roster player that could immediately impact their team.
Instead, they are trying to acquire high level prospects to start building towards the future, hence why they want to move up in the draft.
Breaking: Rangers have notifed the NHL that they are sending this year's 12th overall first-rounder to Pittsburgh to complete the JT Miller deal instead of deferring the transfer to 2026, Post has learned.
Now there is some speculation that the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins could be trade partners.
Penguins trying to acquire the Bruins 7th overall pick?
According to Marco D'Amico, the Penguins are looking to move into the 5-8 range of this years draft, and the most certainly have the assets to do so.
An idea that was floated to me was the possibility of Pittsburgh trading down from 12, to gain the assets to move from 11 into the 5-8 range.
Pittsburgh would still want to kicks at the can in the top-20, but want to pick higher with their first shot at it.
Something to follow.
Rakell has scored 30+ goals multiple times in his career, and just last year nearly hit 40 goals, having 35 goals, 35 assists for 70 points in 82 games on a bottom Penguins team.
The Bruins have struggled with secondary scoring, acquiring someone like him would instantly boost the Bruins offence.
