Brandon Carlo thought that he was going to finish the remainder of the season within the Boston Bruins organization, but that did not happen. Carlo issued a statement about how it all went down.
Joshua Kloke of The Athletic stated in a column that Brandon Carlo was on the phone with his wife leading up to the final moments of the NHL trade deadline.
With only a couple minutes left before trades could not be processed anymore, Carlo told his wife that he did not think that he was going to be traded, especially considering he hadn't heard from General Manager Don Sweeney.
Little did he know, the Bruins were working on a trade that would send him to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
«I remember making a comment that, 'Maybe after 3 o'clock, I don't know if they can even call me anymore,'» Carlo told reporters, per Kloke. «I was wrong there, for sure.»
It's funny how these things work out, and during his first game with the Toronto Maple Leafs he would play the Colorado Avalanche. Carlo is a native of Colorado, unfortunately the Leafs would end up losing to the Avalanche in his debut.
