76 years ago today, the Boston Bruins ended up completing a massive trade with the Detroit Red Wings.

During the 1949 season, Quackenbush ended up winning the Lady Byng Trophy, he was also a three-time NHL First Team All-Star, and later on was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1976.

After going undrafted, he began his NHL career with the Red Wings in 1944 and was an offensive defenseman.

Pete Horeck on the other hand was a left-winger who began his career with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Horeck was the other player the Bruins acquired from the Red Wings. In return, the Red Wings acquired Pete Babando, Lloyd Durham, Clare Martin, and Jimmy Peters Sr.

After the Boston Bruins ended up acquiring Horeck, his offensive production ended up declining.

The Bruins ended up giving up a haul, but they weren't clear losers of the trade. For example, Babando only played 56 games for the Red Wings scoring just 12 points.

The biggest piece in the trade for the Detroit Red Wings was actually Clare Martin, who ended up helping the Red Wings win a Stanley Cup during the 1950 season.

After that season, he would go back to the Blackhawks during the 1951 season.

Peters Sr. only ended up playing two seasons with the Red Wings from 1949-50 to 1950-51.
