Completed trade between the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs takes an unexpected turn
It's not too often you see two rivals combine for a trade, but a completed trade for the Boston Bruins just took a surprising turn heading into the new season.
After having one of the worst seasons in a decade, the Boston Bruins ended up making some big moves during the 2025 NHL trade deadline.
The Boston Bruins ended up getting a massive return for Carlo though, as they got one of
their top prospects in Fraser Minten, a 2026 first-round pick, and a 2025 fourth-round pick.
This trade confirmed that the Boston Bruins were transitioning into a rebuild, focusing on the future instead of keeping the core intact.
Moving on from Carlo definitely hurt the Bruins though, as he has been known for his shutdown defense, and penalty killing. Trading him definitely left a hole in the Bruins lineup.
20-year-old center, Minten who was drafted by the Boston Bruins in 2022 quickly showed a lot of promise.
Right after the trade,
Minten made a big impact with the Providence Bruins, scoring three goals and seven points in 11 games.
He then appeared in 6 games for the Boston Bruins at the end of the season where he ended up scoring one goal.
Minten's smart two-way game gives him a good chance at beating out players like Matt Poitras, or Casey Mittelstatdt for this role.
The Bruins are expecting Minten to take a big step forward this season, and the chances of him making the roster out of camp is pretty high.
