Former Boston Bruins defenseman broke his silence regarding his career ending injury, and it's not what you'd expect.

Torey Krug signed as a free agent by the Boston Bruins in 2012 and spent up until 2020 with the organization, he later became an unrestricted free agent (UFA) and signed a seven-year, $6.5 million average annual value (AAV) with the St. Louis Blues.
Unfortunately, last September was the last time Torey Krug spoke publicly, where he walked away with tears in his eyes.
This was due to the fact this blueliner was in need to undergo a subtalar fusion surgery on his left ankle, an extreme procedure that no professional athlete has ever been able to return from.
However, a year later, the former nine-season Boston Bruin, Torey Krug, has officially made a statement regarding his career-ending surgery.

While Krug spent over 700 games in the NHL, settling with the idea his 13-year career was over, was a hard pill to swallow.
«It was emotional, but honestly it was a little bit of a relief because I had kind of known what was going to be the eventual outcome for a while, and no one else really did,» Torey Krug stated. «So to make things public, it kind of cements that decision in stone, and there's little bit of relief there.»

Krug would later have a change in heart regarding the injury, where he would go to reveal that his injury was not being the end, rather the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
This was unveiled on social media, via «X», by The Athletic NHL.
Take a look:
For Torey Krug, career-ending surgery is not the end -- it's the beginning of being a full-time dad.

"My oldest daughter, she's like, 'I'm so happy you're not playing anymore.

She said, 'I'll miss going to the games and seeing Louie (the Blues' mascot), but you don't have to go on road trips anymore.' That tugs at your heartstrings."
While the former Bruin won't be playing in the National Hockey League ever again, the surgery was a success and he's getting healthy again.
At this time, he still can't chase his kids around, but he is excited to be able to be a full-time dad.
