Ex-Boston Bruin Makes Semifinals in Canadian National Tennis Tournament
Outside of the rink, NHL players often have a range of hobbies, sometimes even venturing into other sports like golf or tennis.
Recently, Dominic Moore, a seasoned NHL forward, took part in a national tennis event in Canada's 40+ division, showcasing his skills and making an impressive run to the semifinals.
Moore faced a bit of a challenge in his first match against Olivier Taschereau, but he rallied back after a shaky start, securing victories in the next two sets to move forward to the round of 16.
In the following round, Moore delivered a dominant performance against the third seed, Brian Gallant, securing a convincing 6-1, 6-0 win and earning his place in the quarterfinals. There, he met another formidable opponent, fifth seed Salomon Bendavid, but Moore managed to secure the win with scores of 6-4, 6-2.
Heading into the semifinals, Moore's opponent was Simon Tremblay-Larouche, a former star player at the University of Arkansas and the second seed in the tournament. Despite putting up a good fight, Moore unfortunately lost the match with scores of 7-6, 6-3. Although he was initially scheduled to play in the third place playoff, Moore eventually decided to withdraw.
Originally from Thornhill, Ontario, Moore boasts an impressive NHL career spanning 13 seasons and 897 games. Throughout his journey, he played for ten different teams, including the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres, Florida Panthers, Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, San Jose Sharks, and the Boston Bruins.
It's truly fascinating to witness stories like Moore's, where current and former players showcase their talents in other sports at a high level. Another instance of this kind of versatility was evident earlier this summer, when Vancouver Canucks forward
J.T. Miller aimed to qualify for the U.S. Open Golf Championship.
