Free agent Brad Marchand signs: Insider provides significant update
A significant update has just surfaced regarding Boston Bruins' former veteran captain, Brad Marchand, and his plans for this year's free agency.
And now, the former Bruin is no longer in a contract, as his previously 8-year, $49M contract expired at the end of the 2024/25 NHL season, leaving him to become an UFA (Unrestricted Free Agent).
That being said, Brad Marchand's name has been trending immensely within several organizations in the National Hockey League, and a significant update has surfaced regarding where Marchand fans can expect to see him land this summer.
NHL insider unveils update regarding the Boston Bruins' former captain, Brad Marchand, and his future for this year's free agency
An insider, Pierre LeBrun, has unveiled that the
Boston Bruins and
Toronto Maple Leafs are hoping to speak to the 37-year old on Tuesday, July 1st, if he doesn't re-sign with the Florida Panthers.
«As we wait to see Brad Marchand's decision with Florida, several teams including Boston and Toronto hope to talk to him come Tuesday when the market opens, if he doesn't re-sign with the Cup champs.
The Bruins would certainly be open to bringing him back. But again, perhaps Marchand re-signs in Florida.»
Although Bruins fans are hopeful that Boston's general manager, Don Sweeney, and the front office will offer Marchand a hefty deal in order to re-acquire him on July 1st, the odds are seemingly low.
Due to the fact, the organization missed their opportunity to negotiate a deal with their former captain earlier this 2025 season, which ultimately saw Marchand depart from Boston in the first place.
Do you think the Boston Bruins' GM Don Sweeney and the organization will have a shot at re-acquiring
Brad Marchand this free agency?
Despite the slim chances, Boston Bruins fans are hopeful.
