The latest announcement by Gary Bettman and the NHL has set the wires alight, the we can expect a salary cap raise next season. The news could be a huge benefit to the Boston Bruins.
The summer should be explosive, as we'll see NHL teams spend big money on free agents, thanks to the latest announcement by Gary Bettman.
Today the NHL and NHLPA released the newest numbers on the salary cap estimates available to all 32 teams the next three seasons.
We can expect to see the salary cap hit by year:
2025-2026: $95.5 M
2026-2027: $104 M
2027-2028: $113.5 M
2026-2027: $104 M
2027-2028: $113.5 M
The current salary cap of every NHL team at the moment sits at $88 million. As we'll see the cap raised $7.5 million in 2025-2026, $8.5 million in 2026-2027, and $9.5 million in 2027-2028.
The latest CBA expires in September 2026, but Commissioner Gary Bettman hopes to have the new deal inked in 2025, before the Stanley Cup final.
Free agency for the Boston Bruins should be exciting as the team will have significant cap space to spend to add talent to the lineup.
Statement from deputy commissioner Bill Daly:
"Both Clubs and Players have sought a certain level of predictability with respect to Payroll ranges from year to year and over time for advance planning capabilities. In reviewing our numbers with the Players' Association as part of our collective bargaining, we finally felt like we were in a position to give them that. It's not `absolute certainty,' but maybe it's the next best thing.''
