Hired: The Boston Bruins announce the hiring of an unexpected coach

The Boston Bruins were looking to add an assistant coach to Marco Sturm's coaching staff, and they have now done that.
Today on June 20th, the Boston Bruins announced that they hired assistant coach Steve Spot.
Following the hiring, Marco Sturm had this to say:
«I'm thrilled to add Steve Spott to our coaching staff, and also welcome him, his wife Lisa and their children, Tyler and Emma, to Boston.» said Head Coach Marco Sturm. «Steve is a passionate teacher, a strong communicator, and brings great structure and detail to everything he does. His experience, especially on special teams, will be a major asset for our group and for the Bruins moving forward.»
«I'm incredibly excited and honored to join the Boston Bruins organization,» said Spott. «Being part of an Original Six franchise with such a proud history and tradition means a great deal to me and my family. The opportunity to work alongside Marco and the rest of this coaching staff, in front of one of the most passionate fanbases in hockey, is something I'm truly grateful for, and I can't wait to get started.»

Spott brings experience
The 57-year-old has spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach for the Dallas Stars, helping them make it to the Western Conference Finals all three years.
During that time, the Dallas Stars had a 149-68-29 record, which was good enough for the best in the league over that span.
The plus side to this is that he oversaw the Stars power play, which had a 23.7% success rate, which was 7th best in the NHL.
Spott has spent a lot of time in the NHL, and brings a lot of experience to the Boston Bruins.
Hopefully he can fix their power play heading into the 2025-26 season.
