The NHL draft is just right around the corner, and the Boston Bruins have a solid pick this year with the 7th overall draft pick, and an insider may have just leaked who the Bruins will be picking with that pick.

With the 7th overall pick in the 2025-26 NHL Entry Level Draft, Don Sweeney has a big decision to make on who he is going to select. He has a pretty terrible track record of first round picks, and if he misses another one, especially one inside the top 10, fans will not be too happy.
There aren't too many top prospects in this years draft, but the Boston Bruins will be getting a good player regardless, and they have a chance to bolster their team especially at the center position this year, which is something they need.

Who The Boston Bruins May Draft

Corey Pronman of The Athletic did a mock draft on Tuesday, and revealed that the Boston Bruins may select Jake O'Brien:
«O'Brien is a cerebral, playmaking center with top-line upside,» Pronman wrote. «His skill and vision are clear NHL traits and address Boston's massive need for a center who can drive play and create offense.»

O'Brein is 17-years-old, and plays for the Brantford Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He was the Ontario Hockey League's Rookie of the Year last season, leading all rookis with 64 points in 61 games.
«His edge work is elite. His shot's elite. His stickhandling ability in complicated drills and taking pucks off the wall,» O'Brien's skills coach, Dan Sisca told The Athletic in a March interview. «No matter who he is skating with, whether he's skating with NHL players now or other OHL players, his skill set in a skills session is like a wow factor.»

Ever since losing Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci to retirement, the Boston Bruins have been struggling to find centers.
Last off-season, Don Sweeney signed Elias Lindholm hoping he would be the missing piece, but a back injury limited his production throughout the year.
At the NHL trade deadline, Charlie Coyle was traded, and he also played a big role for the Bruins down the center of their lineup. Adding someone like O'Brien could change things for the organization.
