Entering game seven against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Brad Marchand had the chance to make NHL history, and a recent announcement from the NHL confirmed that he did indeed make history.

To start off the series, the Toronto Maple Leafs looked like they may break their curse this year after taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the series, but things quickly turned around for them.
Brad Marchand played hero for the Florida Panthers during game 3, winning it in overtime to keep the Toronto Maple Leafs away from taking a 3-0 series lead, and that changed things.
It seemed like the Florida Panthers found their game after winning that one as they ended up winning the next 3 straight games.
The Florida Panthers didn't seem too worried entering game 7 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, even after being shut out 2-0 in game six to force game 7, and they proved why they are a team built for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
In game seven the Panthers dominated the Leafs the entire game, and went on to win 6-1 to eliminate the Leafs, and punch their ticket to the ECF for the 3rd straight year.
Brad Marchand had the chance to make NHL history and he did exactly that.

Brad Marchand Makes NHL History

Entering the game Marchand had the chance to go 5-0 against the Toronto Maple Leafs in game 7s, which would make him the first player in NHL history to do so.

He did exactly that, and the NHL made an announcement regarding it following their win in the winner-takes-all game:

Now Marchand and the Florida Panthers are getting set to take on the Carolina Hurricanes, and will try to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals for the third straight year as well.
