Insider Shockingly Reveals What The Boston Bruins Are Looking For In Return For Their Captain Brad Marchand
The Boston Bruins Captain Brad Marchand could find himself in a new uniform, should GM Don Sweeney decide to go ahead with a retool. But should he trade Marchand?
Many questions remain about
Brad Marchand's future with the Bruins.
The team is 6th in the Atlantic Division, with a record of 27-23-6, and could end up missing the playoffs.
If that does end up happening, the Bruins will have to consider drastic measures in order to course correct. One of those ideas is to trade Brad Marchand for a quick retool.
He'd yield a great return for the Bruins, and his name continues to surface in trade speculation. NHL Insider Chris Johnston has him listed at number ten of his trade candidate list.
"After a brief appearance on the Big Board earlier this season, the Bruins captain returns with his team currently on the wrong side of the playoff cut-off line and featuring an ugly goal differential. While it's still not clear if Boston would actually move Marchand, his name is circulating in the rumor mill."
So, should the Bruins trade Marchand?
The team needs to move on from the philosophy of holding players past their prime. The prospect pool in Providence is fruitless, aside from
Brandon Bussi,
Matthew Poitras, Georgii Merkulov, and
Fabian Lysell.
If the Bruins retain a percentage of Marchand's salary, the greater the yield and an increased amount of suitors would appear.
Marchand's a seasoned playoff performer and is appealing to contenders in the NHL, as an agitator and a reliable goal-scoring forward.
Here's an idea of what the team could fetch the Colorado Avalanche.
Proposed Deal:
To COL: Brad Marchand
To BOS:
Casey Mittelstadt, 2026 1st Rd Pick, mid-tier prospect
If that was the return, would you trade Marchand?
