Milan Lucic made a return back to the ice with an NHL team after signing a PTO with the St. Louis Blues, but his career could be coming to an end.

The Blues have signed Milan Lucic on a PTO. His last played NHL game was on October 21,2023.
After everything that happened, many believed that Lucic's time in the NHL was over, but he surprised everyone after signing with the Blues this off-season.
Lucic wanted to return back to the NHL last year, but no teams ended up giving him a chance.
Now, things are not looking good for Milan Lucic after a report from ex-Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery.

Lucic suffers injury that could ruin his chances of getting a contract

Jim Montgomery announced yesterday that Milan Lucic ended up suffering an injury, and was not practicing with the team.
It's a groin injury, and Montgomery stated that he is being listed as day-to-day right now.
Lucic (groin) did not practice today.

Monty: "He's day-to-day. He's walking around fine. It's just a matter of being able to push out there. It's unfortunate timing for him and us for the evaluation process to see if he can make the club. (1/2)
This is terrible news for Lucic. This could stop him from appearing in games, which would ruin his chances of getting a contract with the Blues.
This could be the last chance Lucic has to sign an NHL contract, and an injury may ruin his chance of making his return.
Montgomery did state that if he is actually day-to-day, there is a chance he plays in games next week:
Monty cont'd: "If he's really day-to-day, and he's back to play next week, he'll get into games and we'll see if he can make the team." (2/2) #stlblues
