NHL insider encourages GM Don Sweeney to make massive off-season move that would change things for the Bruins
A recent announcement has revealed an NHL insider has encouraged the Boston Bruins' GM Don Sweeney to make a massive move this off-season and it would be huge for the organization.
A reporter with On Fellow of the Rink (part of The Athletic Podcast Family), Michael Russo, has announced his perspective regarding the Boston Bruins organization, revealing that the team is in desperate need of submitting an offer sheet for an impeccable Minnesota Wild forward,
Marco Rossi.
As of recently, there has been growing concern for
Marco Rossi's future with Minnesota, as this centre does not seem to be a part of his organization's future, and new insight has revealed the likelihood of him staying with the Wild is slim to none.
«I get the sense, talking to people within the organization, they just always want him to be something that he's incapable of being, because he can't just add a bunch of weight and size to him. I think that [Bill Guerin] just doesn't feel that, if you add him to this team, that he's somebody that you can win with in the playoffs.» Michael Russo stated.
This should have the
Boston Bruins organization picking up the phone, as a young core-player like Rossi is rarely available, and this is the perfect opportunity for the Bruins during their re-tool.
Given the state of the
Boston Bruins, adding immense talent is an absolute must.
Acquiring Marco Rossi could be exactly what the Boston Bruins need
As of now, the Boston Bruins' GM Don Sweeney has $27.13 million in cap space, and as the Bruins fan-base knows, he is most definitely looking to capitalize on his use of the cap space rather than fork it over on a free agent, like
Mitch Marner.
Even if a good chunk of the organization's cap space was coughed over for Marner, it wouldn't be a bad idea, however, Sweeney could be more inclined to extend an offer sheet to Rossi and pry him away from the Wild for considerably less.
The Bruins currently have the cap space to extend a decent offer, and with Rossi being 23 years old, the team could offer him six or seven years, which could definitely make sense, especially around the fourth tier, with an average annual value (AAV) at $7 million, the cost would be a first and a third-round pick. That's not bad for a player at his skill level.
