Going into their game against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night, the Boston Bruins received some bad news not long before puck drop was set to take place.
Bruins interim head coach Joe Sacco revealed that Jeremy Swayman was unavailable for their game after suffering an injury against the New Jersey Devils the night before, and the Bruins had to complete an emergency transaction because of this.
Jeremy Swayman was pulled after allowing four goals in the second period to the New Jersey Devils, and many believed Sacco was disciplining him for allowing four goals, but later it was revealed that Jeremy Swayman suffered an injury, and that's why he was pulled from the game.
The Bruins recalled All-Star goaltender Michael DiPietro from the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League to serve as backup to Joonas Korpisalo after Swayman was not available for their game.
Now it appears that Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney has completed another roster transaction.
Mark Divver, an insider for the Boston Bruins revealed that tonight Michael DiPietro will be the starter for the Providence Bruins, meaning the Bruins have reassigned him back down to the American Hockey League.
The Providence Bruins got some more good news today as well, as Fabian Lysell is set to return to their lineup after missing a couple of games due to an illness.
