The NHL deadline is going to be an interesting one for the Boston Bruins. With how inconsistent the Boston Bruins have been this year, it's unclear what direction the teams is going to take, and there is a big possibility that they are flipping some of their unrestricted free agents at the deadline.
It's not definite, but it seems unlikely that the Boston Bruins will be bringing in rentals at the deadline like they have done in previous years with players like Dmitry Orlov and Tyler Bertuzzi.
That doesn't mean they shouldn't be looking for players that could greatly help them beyond this season.
The Hockey News recently listed a surprising player from the Seattle Krakens that the Boston Bruins could target at the NHL trade deadline this year.
Bruins linked to a former 40 goal scorer
According to the Hockey News, Sportsnet's Jacob Stoller reported that Seattle Krakens forward Jared McCann could be available at the NHL trade deadline.
If Boston were to acquire McCann, they could place him on their top line in Morgan Geekie's spot, or he could be placed somewhere down the middle, where the Bruins need some help.
This season McCann has 14 goals, and 42 points in 57 games, but last season he had a career high 40 goals and 62 points in 80 games. In 2022-23 he had 70 points in 79 games with the Kraken. McCann can desperately help out the Bruins.
Don Sweeney should definitely be in on McCann if he's made available at the NHL trade deadline.
