Trade moments away from being completed between the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers

During the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline, an unexpected trade erupted in Boston that left many Bruins fans distraught, as it was confirmed that the team's fan-favourited veteran and captain, Brad Marchand, was traded to the Florida Panthers and departing Boston.

Additionally, to make the situation worse, the Boston Bruins' side of the deal was extremely questionable, and although many originally believed that a first-round pick was headed to Boston, until the trade details were published by the Bruins.

According to the trade conditions, the Panthers must win two playoff rounds this year, alongside that, Marchand must appear in at least 50% of the teams' playoff games.

This deal ultimately concluded in an outrageous amount of Bruins fans not only furious that the organization was even willing to depart with their 16-year veteran, but that the front office was also willing to trade him for a conditional deal.

However, new insight has revealed the Boston Bruins' deal may have just worked out in the organizations favour, as the Florida Panthers are making airwaves in their second-round of the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Brad Marchand and the Florida Panthers were tied, 2-2. against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second-round of this year's playoffs, that was until the Panthers absolutely destroyed the Toronto Maple Leafs last night, 6-1.

Florida now stands 3-2 against the Maple Leafs in their series, and if the Panthers pull out a win during their next game on Friday, May 16, the Boston Bruins will receive the team's first-round pick in the 2027 or 2028 NHL Draft.
