Everyone is familiar with the infamous "Tuukka Rask meltdown" that occurred while Rask was still playing for the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
If you don't, watch this video to help you remember:
Tuukka Rask's rage can be seen in the video as he allowed two goals in the shootout after recording a shutout in regulation and overtime.
Rask was recently featured as a guest on the Spittin' Chiclets Podcast and he brought up the game and what exactly went down that night. "It's a 0-0 game, throughout the overtime. I'm playing like the best game of my life...go into a shootout, no goals. So I go poke check the guy loses the puck, it goes like backwards, sideways. He skates to the puck, wraps it around and then like shoots on an empty net. Rask explained, "The second one, we don't score. Then they come back and, you know, the guy rips it over my shoulder and I hear *cling* and the ref said goal."
Now while back hockey did not have video reviews so it was the ref's judgment to make the call on the ice in which he ruled it a goal. This set Rask off, already on edge after allowing the first goal and it all just boiled over. Giving Bruins fans a memorable moment from their beloved netminder Tuukka Rask.
However, Rask did say he used it as a learning experience kinda...,
"You kinda learn from those things, you know, and then I snap 100 times, but just not on the ice. I just go into the locker room and...once I got locked in at Joe Louis Arena after we lost a game...I smacked that door like ten times. The fricken handle fell."
