After being embarrassed by the Florida Panthers in game one of the Eastern Conference Finals, it seems like the Hurricanes are fed up and are making a big change.
It seems like Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour has had enough of forward
Jesperi Kotkaniemi according to a recent announcement.
This is a major change to the middle of their lineup in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Florida Panthers, but the Hurricanes feel like it's the best move for the team moving forward.
Hurricanes Announce Huge Roster Move
During game one against the Panthers, Kotkaniemi made some questionable moves. He made multiple mistakes that ended up hurting the team, and now he is going to be a healthy scratch because of it.
Reports revealed that
Mark Jankowski will be slotting into the lineup and taking the place of the former third-overall pick of the Montreal Canadiens.
The 24-year-old had a pretty decent regular season scoring 33 points in 78 games for the Canes, but has only had three points in the playoffs with no goals.
Kotkaniemi is signed through 2030 and is making $4.82 million per year, but has struggled in the playoffs over the past couple of years.
Jankowski did not play much for the Hurricanes during the regular season appearing in just 19 games and only scored 8 points. The 30-year old has also played in three playoff games and has one point.
Brad Marchand and the Florida Panthers are looking to make it 2-0 in the series against the Carolina Hurricanes before heading home.
